The Cube Definition Window displays information about the currently accessed Cube. Through this window, you can configure Cube attributes, create Measure members, define relationships between source tables, and create formulas. To view the Cube Definition Window, double-click on a specific Cube in the Database Explorer pane and the Cube Definition window displays in the Client window on the right.
Sample screenshot: Cubes Definition Window
The Cubes Definition Window consists of several tabs: Settings, Measures, Dimensions, Relationships, Formulas, Dependencies and Persistent Calculations.
The Settings Tab displays configuration information and properties pertinent to the current Cube. The Measures Tab lists all existing column names in the source relational table that users can designate as measures or Members of the Measure dimension, and even allows creation of additional measure Members, calculated Members or virtual Members. The Dimensions tab shows all Dimensions that comprises the Cube. The Relationships Tab is where links between source relational tables are defined. The Formulas, Dependencies and Persistent Calculations Tabs are where the users write OLATION Cube formulas, Dependency formulas and Persistent Calculation formulas.
When you open and view your Cubes in OLATIONĀ®, a new tab called 'Cube' becomes available on the OLATION ribbon. This tab is only accessible through the Cube Definition Window and is comprised of several commands with functions that are specifically useful when working with Cubes, such as when defining Cube attributes and creating Cube formulas.

Function |
CUBE |
Saves the newly created or modified Cube and all the attributes configured for the Cube. |
Print Cube |
Prints the formulas contained within the current Cube. |
Check |
Checks the entire Cube for any incomplete or incorrectly defined attribute/s. This button is also used to check if the formula syntax is correct. |
Insert Dimension |
Adds Dimensions to existing Cubes. |
Add Measure |
Adds additional Measure members into the Cube. Three types of Measures that can be created: (1) Regular Measure Member, (2) Calculated Member or (3)Virtual Member. |
FORMULAS/PERSISTENT CALCULATIONS |
New Formula |
Enables you to write a formula for an OLATION Cube. Three qualifiers that can be used when writing an OLATION formula: (1) All And, (2) Aggregates and, (3) Details And. The qualifiers define the intersections the formula will apply to. |
New Persistent Calculation |
Enables you to write Persistent Calculation formulas into the OLATION Cube. Clicking on this button will automatically open the Persistent Calculations tab. |
Cube Reference (F1) |
Enables you to build a Cube reference when writing or constructing the right-hand side (RHS) of a formula. This is particularly useful when dealing with cross-cube formulas. |
Member Reference (F2) |
Enables you to reference to a Dimension that is not a part of the current Cube when writing formulas. |
Insert Function |
Displays available Cube functions that you can use when writing formulas in the OLATION Cubes. |
DEPENDENCIES |
New Dependency |
Allows you to write Dependency formulas for an OLATION Cube. |
Destination Region |
Allows you to add a new region as destination for a Dependency calculation. |

GENERAL |
Insert Cube (F3) |
Displays all existing Cubes in a database and inserts the selected Cube into the formula. |
Insert Dimension (F4) |
Displays existing Dimensions in a Cube and inserts the selected Dimension into the formula. |
