Views in OLATION® are the representation of Views existing in a relational source to which a connection from OLATION has been established. Below are images of a View in Olation and one existing in SQL Server, for the database Using_Olation. (The View is Accounts2—perhaps a View created in SQL Server of a specific set of Accounts needed for a Cube, i.e., a subset group of Accounts from the full Account table.)
Through use of this feature, a user can access Views directly from the OLATION® application and build components for a multidimensional model, e.g., Dimensions and Cubes. A user can also create, modify or delete Views; provided the user has the requisite privileges, this will update the relational data source. For example, creating a new View using this feature will likewise create the corresponding View in the underlying database.
