Introduction to the PowerOLAP® MDB Server

PowerOLAP® is a full server, which allows multiple users to share and analyze data concurrently across an Intranet or Internet.

PowerOLAP® MDB Server executes as a Service on any Intel-based computer running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server or above. The Service Control Program interfaces with the Server, handling management tasks associated with maintaining databases and event/transaction logging.

The server implementation supports multiple-user access over a network to the single or multiple CPU's running the PowerOLAP® Server. The server CPU will run the necessary software to provide access to a multidimensional database from any PowerOLAP® Client on the network. The Server component will allow users to read and write data to the server machine, depending on Security Privileges assigned to clients. A configuration diagram appears below.

Notes

Performance for specific configurations will vary greatly depending upon use. Accessing large quantities of data will require more memory and disk space than the minimal configuration suggested.
