Creating a Task


To create a Scheduler Task:

1.   From the General Information dialog of PowerOLAP Scheduler, click Next.
This will display the Tasks Management dialog box, shown in the following image.

2.   Click New. This will show the Edit Task window (as shown below).

3.   In the Name text box, type a <task name>.

4.   Select a <task type>:

Note: There are several task types in the drop-down list, for the first example, Internet Data Services will be illustrated.

With each task type, the Operation section of the Edit Task dialog box changes to satisfy the data necessary for each task type (encircled below).

5.   For IDS (Internet Data Services), the first thing is to define the PowerOLAP Database.

Please take note of the following when specifying the database you want to connect to:

6.   Select a Cube. The Cube lists will only display those Cubes with a predefined IDS tasks.

7.   Select a predefined IDS task inside the selected Cube.

8.   Click OK. The task is now inserted into the Task List.

To create another task, click New and follow steps outlined above until before the procedures to be followed for the Operations section since as stated before, Operations section of the Edit Task dialog box will vary depending on the selected Task type. The following summarizes the Operation section of the Edit Task dialog box for each task type:

If there are several existing tasks, you may use the arrows at the right-hand corner of the dialog box above to reorder the tasks. You can arrange the order of existing tasks by simply selecting a task and then clicking on the Up or Down arrow buttons.
