Register and Activate the PowerOLAP^® Client

Important


The following pages assume INTERNET CONNECTIVITY for the machine(s) on which you perform the PowerOLAP installation and registration. If that is not the case, see the topic Offline Licensing of PowerOLAP Client for procedure on offline registration of the software.

The Product Key or License ID is not required for installing the software, but after the installation, you will need to activate the software using a License ID and Password.  This activates the product features and allows for permanent use of the software.

You need to register the PowerOLAP client to enable local database capability.

When you launch the software the first time, the PowerOLAP Registration dialog box will prompt you to choose from two licensing options:

     •  (1) I have been issued a PowerOLAP license and have an ID and Password; or

     •  (2) I was provided a Reader/Writer code by my PowerOLAP Administrator ;

Register via PowerOLAP License ID and Password

To Register PowerOLAP Client using a PowerOLAP License ID and Password:

1.   Launch the PowerOLAP program from the Start Menu.

The PowerOLAP Registration dialog box appears. When you initially launch the software, you will be prompted with the PowerOLAP Registration dialog which gives you two registration options shown below (bottom image, radio buttons) For the Designer Client, choose the second option.

You must run/open the application as an administrator. To do this, right click on PowerOLAP icon and select 'Run as administrator' option.

2.   Select the I have been issued a PowerOLAP license ID and Password option (second option).

3.   Click Continue.
The License Codes dialog box appears.

4.   Enter the PowerOLAP Designer <License ID> and <password> (reference your PowerOLAP licensing document).

5.   Once the keys are entered, click OK.
The Create New License dialog box appears. This will require you to fill out some information before the registration can be completed.

6.   Fill out the form completely.

7.   Click Submit.

(Notice that when you check the Feature Info section, the Local Database option is now enabled.)

And if you did not exceed your licensed number of installs, your software is activated immediately. The License section of the dialog box will have the appropriate functionality checked and enabled as according to your license.

This completes the PowerOLAP® Client software activation via a PowerOLAP License ID and Password.

Register via a Reader/Writer Code

The registration procedure for a PowerOLAP Client via a Reader/Writer Code is pretty much similar with that of the previous and only differs on the last steps.

To Register PowerOLAP Client using a PowerOLAP License ID and Password:

1.   Launch the PowerOLAP program from the Start Menu.

The PowerOLAP Registration dialog box appears. This will prompt user to select between two options.

You must run/open the application as an administrator. To do this, right click on PowerOLAP icon and select 'Run as administrator' option.

The process for registering the Reader or Writer Client begins with the selection of the top radio button.

2.   Select the I was provided a Reader/Writer code by my PowerOLAP Administrator option (first option).

3.   Click Continue.
The Client Licensing Code dialog box appears.

4.   Enter a valid Reader or Writer <ID> and <Code> (reference your PowerOLAP licensing document).

5.   Once the keys are entered, click OK.
The Create New License dialog box appears. This will require you to fill out some information before the registration can be completed.

6.   Fill out the form completely.

Please be sure to enter the correct Company Name that has purchased the software, and—important—enter the correct e-mail address to which you want the next set of licensing codes to be sent, for completion of the software activation.

7.   Click Submit.
After a moment, the License Codes dialog will pop up.

PARIS Technologies will send you via e-mail the License ID and Password which you will later use to license the software. Check the e-mail address you indicated in the Form you have just submitted.

8.   Enter the <License ID> and <password> e-mailed to you by PARIS Technologies.

9.   Click OK.

This completes the PowerOLAP® Client software activation via a Reader/Writer Code.
