With the release of PowerOLAP®, PARIS Technologies established a milestone in the evolution of OLAP (online analytical processing) technology. Through the use of the component tool OLAP Exchange®, PowerOLAP® bridges the gap between relational and multidimensional worlds. The rapid deployment of OLAP Exchange® has enabled organizations to propagate data dynamically between transactional and analytical databases—for advanced, online, real-time planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting needs.
Employing the Excel spreadsheet as the user interface, as well as the PowerOLAP® Web browser and user-developed front ends, PowerOLAP® emerged as the optimal end-user OLAP application available to the market.
The release of the new version of PowerOLAP® includes enhanced features for OLAP Exchange®, building on the capability to automatically create the SQL code necessary to propagate data between transaction-processing systems and the PowerOLAP® analytical engine. One such enhancement is the Extended Drill-Through feature, which greatly facilitates reporting from fields in a relational database that are not the primary fields used in Cube-creation.
As in previous versions, users employ simple interfaces to select what relational data to extract to create multidimensional Cubes in PowerOLAP®. Because OLAP Exchange® is bi-directional, it can also be used to send data from the multidimensional to the relational database. And because OLAP Exchange® is dynamic, changes originating in a relational system can be reported instantaneously to PowerOLAP®.
OLAP Exchange® completes the integration of the relational database, with the optimized PowerOLAP® multidimensional engine, and the spreadsheet or Web browser front end to produce a faster, more powerful seamless business solution.
