Creating a Slice

1.   In the PowerOLAP ribbon, go to Slice tab and select New Slice command.
The New Slice dialog box will appear as shown below.
(This dialog box will display all the Cubes that are available in your PowerOLAP database. In our example the only Cube that resides in the Northwind.olp is the Order Information cube.)

2.   Select a Cube (in this case Order Information cube), then click OK button.
The Slice will be displayed on the screen as shown below:

When you launch the Slice the first time, the intersections of the dimensions will not display the actual values.

3.   Click on F9 or the Recalculate Slice button  to show the values.

The Slice can then be re-oriented to any preferred format. Once the data is brought into an OLAP Exchange Cube, it can be used in any way that a normal Cube is used.
